Wilson appointed to leadership role in academic affairs
Emily Wilson, Ph.D., will serve as the new Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs of Texas A&M Health Science Center (TAMHSC), effective April 1, 2014. Wilson will assist with comprehensive academic initiatives at the health science center, such as enhancing and establishing new academic programs that address ever-changing health care needs and equip graduates to fulfill the health care demands in Texas. She will work with the colleges to identify necessary resources to support new academic programs and development opportunities for faculty, post-doctoral fellows and students.
Wilson is a professor of medical physiology with the Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine and most recently served as its director of graduate programs. She holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Utah State University, a doctorate in biochemistry from Emory University, and completed postdoctoral training at Vanderbilt University. Her research interests include functions, growth and remodeling of the vascular system. Wilson serves on the TAMHSC accreditation leadership team and is actively involved with the process of realigning TAMHSC with Texas A&M University.
