L to R – Nichole Rydahl, Sunayana Chopra, Keira Miller

The Texas Gulf Coast Chapter of the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) recently awarded three scholarships to Texas A&M Health Science Center School of Public Health students pursuing the Master of Health Administration (MHA) degree. Sunayana Chopra received the Arden Jean Bigger Scholarship presented annually to the highest ranked student in an MHA program. The award is named for Ms. Biggar, a long-term leader in healthcare and a past president of the Texas Gulf Coast Chapter. Keira Miller and Nichole Rydahl were also awarded scholarships.

The HFMA Membership Committee including Melissa Fisher, Julie Rabat-Torki, and Mark Worthen traveled to the College Station campus to present the scholarships. Following the award presentation, Scott Sette, also from HFMA, presented “Interview Preparation Skills for Early Careerists.”

Scholarship recipients must be enrolled in accredited healthcare finance or healthcare administration graduate degree programs. Criteria include academic achievement, experience and interest in the healthcare finance area, leadership skills, and involvement in HFMA. Students are asked to submit an essay detailing the reason they should receive a scholarship from HFMA, their college transcript, and a faculty recommendation letter.
