$2M kidney research grant program named for TAMHSC-COM professor

Dr. Donald WessonThe American Society for Nephrology, the world’s largest group of kidney doctors, has named a new grant and fellowship program after Dr. Donald E. Wesson, Professor of Medicine at the Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine and Systems Executive Vice President for Academic Operations at Scott & White Healthcare. The fellowship program, which is named The Donald E. Wesson MD Fellowship for Nephrology Research, has a corpus of $2 million and proceeds will be used to fund kidney disease-related research.

The program was named after Dr. Wesson, the Society explained, in honor of his “contributions to the ASN in the areas of research, education, and moving the ASN forward through extraordinary, courageous, and visionary leadership on the ASN Council.”
